Time saver -Mandolin Slicer
Okay, so this should be a no-brainer but, I'm posting it anyway. I have been wanting one of those mandolin slicers that lets you slice potatoes, tomatoes etc. evenly & effortlessly for a long time. You have to get a fairly good one if you really want it to work. So, I've told my husband this many times & right before Xmas, I thought I would just mention it again for the heck of it. In the past, he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about & made me explain it. This time, he said "What is thing anyway? It's called a Mandarin slicer? What for slicing oranges?" I about went ballistic thinking "Are you kidding me, he's still this retarded?" & then I realized by his smirk that he was just pulling my leg. He got me that time but, more importantly, already wrapped under my tree, he got me a madolin slicer! Yay! I've enjoyed making perfectly thin sliced potatoes for Potatoes Au Gratin & perfectly sliced tomatoes for hamburgers & BLTs. It's so easy (although I sliced my finger kind of bad once already!) and saves so much time. I can slice 3 large baking potatoes for Potatoes Au Gratin in about 60 seconds -I swear! I'm loving it! It's not one of the more expensive ones ("Progressive" brand -about $40 on Amazon)but, it folds & sits nice & has attachments for thinner, thicker slices etc. Also it can sit over a bowl to catch all of the slices. It's the little things that make me happy. I Highly recommend it! Dorky housewife seal of approval!
