Kids computer games

So, there is a website that Cameron's class uses at school (Pre-K) called "Starfall" that has educational games on it. I thought we'd try it at home so, we did go on it a few times but, after awhile Cameron got kind of bored. Well, it's okay but doesn't have the familiar characters that might help hook a kid into learning. It does have cute seasonal things like building a snowman or making Jack-o-lantern faces though. One day at the library, I decided we should get check out a computer game for Cameron to try at home. He picked a Curious George one but, as it turns out, it was kind of old & wasn't compatible w/Windows 7 or even XP for that matter. So, my computer didn't recognize it & Cameron could'nt play it. He was upset so, on the fly I thought, why not go to the PBS Kids website? Cameron only watches PBS shows (aside from DVDs)so, why not? Well, he picked Curious George from the choices & he played lots of games & he loved it. The next day he played more & then checked out other games from shows like "Word Girl", "Dinosaur Train" & "Arthur" and a whole bunch more as the days went by. Now he looks forward to getting some computer time but, he's familiar enough w/the site that he can pretty much maneuver around & play games w/out much help. The bonus is, they're learning games but, he's having fun & keeping occupied while his sister naps & I can actually get something else done. Of course, if your kid is into Disney TV or Nickelodeon, I'm sure you could find free games online for them too. 4 & up can really do these games well but, I think a 3 yr old would need a lot of help. Give it a try!
