New Humane Society in Alpharetta

I am a big animal lover and I am especially fond of rescue dogs and cats. I only have 1 dog right now but, if I had the space, I would definitely have more pets and they would all be rescued animals. I am happy to report that the Atlanta Humane Society is opening up a new branch in Alpharetta off of Mansell Rd (where Carmax used to be). It will be a huge animal shelter encompassing about 50,000 sq. ft. & employeeing about 150 people including a staff Veterinarian. They are intending for it to be a totally new kind of animal shelter. Each dog will sleep alone and have a glass door and the cats will be housed in cat condos. The cats will be displayed in an open area where they can mix w/other cats & climb & play. Prospective dog owners will be able to take dogs outside in a 2 acre outdoor area to run & play. This gives people a chance to really get to know the personality of an animal before adopting them. I think it sounds really cool! The facility won't be officially opening until Thanksgiving but, they are having an Open House this Sat June 4 from 3-7 PM. So far, I give it 2 paws up! This might be worth checking out!
